I sometimes use a plug to “warm up” which seems to really help things go smoother particularly the initial insertion and seems to really help prevent killing the mood with initial difficulties. What do others do to warm up if anything?

Sometimes I use a dildo in the shower as I am prepping, but mostly we just go slow at the beginning which is like our foreplay.

Yes, even after years of experience, I still warm up. We use a lot of lube but don't use any device other than the dildo my wife wears. She just pokes the hole initially until it opens up on its own. Then she makes the pokes deeper very gradually and gently and then makes a very small slide completely in. Once in, she stays motionless for a little while and keeps the motion gentle until I signal to her that I am ready for more vigour.
